Radical Lace & Subversive Knitting
Museum of Art and Design New York, NY
2007

Originally created for this show in New York City, Cartouche is an architectural ornament, which can be centered over a window or door, it’s form often derived from plant forms(acanthus) or scrolls. This piece references architectural ornament and also antimacassar doilys, it is influence by maritime, hippy and Victorian style .it is both psychedelic and domestic .I like the way it will watch the street, facing MOMA. While making Cartouche the idea of the connection of all built things was reinforced ie.Crochet is much like setting posts or bricks.
