Klein first lived in the Skagit Valley in 1976, and returned in 1995 with her family living on a 32 acre farm near Edison. Recently she has taken New Trade Route to the small village nearby acting as a roving street peddler.She sits and doeshand work while talking to people, invitingthem to try on theclothes. She talks about the idea of transformation :making a Chanel inspired jacket from a clothespeciallymade for cleaning.The performance is about the role ofartists, economy, selling things in a small,slow way,making this out of that, theintimacy and pleasure in the direct exchange isa part of the experience.
