whiteheadscarf 2017

Nylon Mesh, Aluminum

120" x 96" x 108"

This piece performs as a stage, confessional, sunshade, soapbox, and refuge. A mesh membrane that defines the form of a women's head scarf. The viewer is invited to enter and become part of the space. I was inspired by the white head scarves the women wear in Argentina when protest the military dictatorship and loss of their children. The white head covering for women is associated with numerous traditions. The form of a head is implied: inside you become the activity of the head.
