Beverly's Ring is a hypothetical idea about LA in the 90's from the exhibition
Recycling LA at Artist's Space in New York City.
We advocate the city as a stage for the expression of its inhabitants, enriching the cultural
level of human experience, and heightening the drama of daily life. Legend has it that Walt
Disney used to bring his children to this prominent corner site of 3rd and La Cienaga for a pony
ride around a ring. While sitting on a bench waiting for the completion of their ride, he pondered
the possibilities of a better place to amuse children.
Beverly's Ring provides that stage - a pedestrian link between the Beverly Center at Third and
La Cienega and its surrounding island-like neighbors: notably Cedars Sinai Hospital - marrying
the Beverly Center to the neighborhood.
The large 3-tiered illuminated ring is held aloft by Vertical Service Corridors that contain
useful small businesses. The ring is multi-leveled and includes a recreation of the original
pony ride, a park, people mover, and many amenties.
The 'Gem' is the helical IGA (Institute of Global Access) Tower devoted to learning, and in the top a radio station.
